John's journey with kidney disease began in 1999 when he was diagnosed with Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD), a genetic disorder inherited from his father, who tragically passed away that same year. PKD has also affected John's siblings: his brother Richard and his sisters Pamela and Tammy all share this hereditary condition. This challenging genetic legacy has extended to John's children, Brittany and John David II, as well as his niece and nephew, Brianna and Adam, highlighting the profound impact of PKD on multiple generations of the Roach family. Unfortunately, this situation has eliminated any hopes of a family member being able to donate a kidney to John. Despite the difficulties posed by this disease, John's resilience and determination inspire those around him as he navigates the complexities of managing his health and seeking a life-saving kidney transplant.
